About
Picking up the trumpet at the age of 9, Luke Harju quickly realized that this was what he was meant to do.
After graduating from West Linn High School, Luke went on to study trumpet performance at the University of Oregon, studying under Sarah Viens, principal trumpet of the Northwest Ballet and Eugene Symphony Orchestra. After a fast four years, filled with intense study of music ranging from Hip-Hop to symphony orchestra, Luke pursued his Master’s degree at the University of North Texas, where he studied with Caleb Hudson, member of the Canadian Brass.
Luke began his pursuit of teaching privately at the age of sixteen while in high school, and has not stopped since. Always encouraging his students to reach their highest potential, Luke is eager to spread his approach of tone first as far as possible. Teaching students across the United States, as well as master classes and clinics in high schools, middle schools, and the University of Oregon, he inspires players to explore the infinite possibilities that the trumpet is capable of.
Always pursuing the highest possible degrees of musicianship, Luke has performed with the acclaimed University of North Texas Wind Symphony, Eugene Symphony Orchestra, as well as recorded for Telemundo’s hit Telenovela, Malverde - El Santo Patrón.
